Tours

**Our preserve tours will resume in the Spring of 2012**

Theodore Stone Woods (Hodgkins, IL)

Sunday, September 25th at 1:00p

This tour will focus on the natural and human history of the site – how it came to be what it is today, with emphasis on geology, fire, restoration and the vegetation most evident at the time of the tour.  Theodore Stone has oak/hickory woodlands, prairie, dolomite prairie, and wetland ecology and is a prime example of what improvements can be made if an area is “managed” and we’ll discuss what that means. The tour is about 2 miles covered over 2 – 3 hours of easy walking but is not suitable for persons with physical disabilities.

Meet at Theodore Stone Woods parking lot
on 67th Street a couple blocks east of LaGrange Road near Hodgkins.
